As a husband and wife team, we share a lot – especially our love of pinot noir. Mayro-Murdick’s small operation allows us to lead and participate in every area of the business – from sales and marketing to production and finance. It’s a team operation that puts the “family” in family owned-winery.

Pinot has been the cornerstone of Mike's winemaking career. With over two decades of experience with the varietal – including the last 16 years working with beautiful Carneros fruit – Mike knows and understands this complicated, demanding varietal.

Mike studied Viticulture and Enology at the storied U.C. Davis program. He worked his way up through the cellars of two legendary wineries – Hacienda and Dry Creek Vineyards – and become winemaker at DeMoor Winery.

Today, Mike’s day job is the winemaker at Schug Winery in Carneros, a position he has held since 1992. His strong relationship with growers throughout the Sonoma and Napa Valley gives him unparalleled access to best fruit the region has to offer.

When Tina met Mike in 1992, she was a wine novice. However, everyone has to start somewhere, and Tina started learning about wine with what ultimately became her favorite varietal: pinot noir. In joining a large wine producer in 1999, she had unparalleled opportunities to try wines from around the world and learned the business of wine from some of the best in the industry.

The name Mayro-Murdick comes from the first names of our paternal grandfathers. Our pinot noirs are a tribute to our families, who have unconditionally supported out dreams of bringing quality pinot noirs to consumers around the world.
